Replacing driver's mirror glass

Postby martindmsmith540 » Sat Jul 24, 2021 8:54 am

Hello all
My recently acquired xj8 sport arrived with what looks like 2 passenger side mirror glass fitted. I have sourced the correct wide angle driver's glass but would appreciate help in how I go about fitting it

Thank you

Hi Martin,

Should be a video on you tube of it, but essentially as follows: Position mirror so outside edge is extended, that is mirror turned towards the car. Pull the outside edge towards you and at same time pull it away from mirror body, that should release the outer edge of the clip and it will then lift off. Remove the terminals for the heater element and photochromatic dimming if present. Note which terminals they slot onto. Refitting is the reverse, ie put inside edge on first, pull towards you and push back onto the clip, should feel it click as it engages.

Martin,

Whilst you're playing with the mirror, maybe have a look at the inevitable awful corrosion buildup that happen in x350 mirrors. See my thread here:

Good luck
