Bonnet Lacquer

Postby Mikec » Sat Jun 29, 2013 10:11 pm

Hi guys.. A patch has appeared on my 2003 X350 bonnet where the lacquer has started to come off. The paint seems fine, no rust, no stone chipping, just that the lacquer seems to be coming off. I'm not sure what is causing it (any ideas anyone?) and also not sure if it will get bigger? or in fact what to do about it. I have been advised that the whole bonnet might need to be resprayed or re-lacquered! This seems over the top for such a small patch but so far I havnt found anyone who will quote for just repairing the patch of missing lacquer. Does anyone have any similar experience or suggestions why this is happening to a 10 year old X350 bonnet in perfect condition otherwise. Suggestions also on remedies would be very helpful. Would a second hand bonnet be cheaper than a respray at the bodyshop? Many thanks. Mike 07857058148
