Catalytic Converter - Which Part Number

Postby aparky85 » Fri Aug 16, 2019 12:27 pm

Following a misfire, I'm getting error code P04020 indicating damage to the Cat on bank 1.

Trying to source parts, and there are that many different part numbers I'm lost. Anyone know which the correct one will be?

Thanks in advance.

aparky85,

The Jaguar parts website seems to identify the differing part number depending on the VIN of your car.

However, I'd be wary of just replacing a £900 cat without further investigation. That code could be getting thrown even due to faulty lambda sensors. The cat itself can't send the code, it's only the difference in lambda readings which is causing the ecu to "interpret" the code. Perhaps worth talking to a good independent specialist before changing the cat just yet.

Good luck

Thanks Paul.

Yes I'm going to get it checked out by my garage, but I'm just planning for the worst case scenario so I can budget accordingly.

Incidentally I'm thinking I have narrowed the part number down to C2C41599.

Fingers crossed it's the sensor though.

Many thanks for your help Paul.
