Air Suspension Catastrophe + Explosion!

Hi all -
Been reading some of the more recent posts which relate to a similar problem to my one, - eg - Front suspension stuck raised as high as possible, and "suspension too low" warning - But unfortunately, my story goes into a new chapter - As I was about to take the car down my local garage, the most incredible bang, and one of the shocks as burst due to I guess repeated filling and no exhausting!

Prior to this I had been getting error codes of "front level sensor - open circuit / short to ground" and then "front level sensor circuit failure".

I had also previous detected and fixed a broken wire on the connector to the height level sensor, and when this recent problem presented itself, I thought the fix had failed and replaced the connector in its entirity thinking it would solve easily - It did not - There was another reason other than the height level sensor wiring - (Maybe the sensor itself, but I never got chance to read the codes before the explosion) -

Sooo - First, I need to source an new/used air shock - O/S/F - Do Jag share these air shocks with other manufacturers (eg - Are there any other makes of cars which use these type of shocks which could be cheaper than a Jaguar labelled part) - Can burst air shocks be repaired?

What would keep the compressor continually filling the air shocks until they burst?

Jaguar bought the OE air springs from Bilstein and put a Jaguar label on them.

Bilstein units can be obtained on the after-market.

Used units with short warranty are likely to be available from Eurojag and also Auto Reserve. Again see the web sites for contact details, etc.

A green spot on an air spring denotes it as a comfort version. A red spot denotes a "sport" version as fitted to the XJR.
