Front suspension rock solid

Hi I'm hoping someone will know what's wrong with my front suspension. I've just replaced the compressor. All was well, or so I thought, but the for the was riding a bit high. This has progressed until the front looks as though he car's about to wheelie! I've got a mongoose lead and jlr software, I can deflate the reservoir and the rear suspension but not the front. Any attempt to alter the suspension results in the software sitting in a loop going nowhere. I have located a second hand control unit and valve block. Am I on the right track or bumbling around in the dark? Any comments/help would be appreciated.

Try cracking off the air union connectors on the top of the air springs at the front to depressurize and lower the car. Re-tighten, start the car and see if you have any improvement.

Diagnose correctly, understand the problem, then try a simple fix before altering any parameters or needlessly fitting new parts on a random basis.

Tried that several times but to no avail, the car simply pumps up the front until it's as high as it will go.

Has the height sensor arm become dislocated from its mounting? That would make it pump up the front as far as it could go. (Mike knows all about this, I'm surprised he did not suggest it!)

A reason for that, Brian.

After overhauling the compressor on my car, it also pumped up high at the front when first started. The ICarsoft 930i didn`t find a fault, so as a first action, I depressurized, re-connected and everything returned to normal. Perhaps I was lucky.

Yes, later on, the N/S front height sensor got knocked off when the car was loaded onto a flat bed ramp transporter. That left the car with its nose touching the floor! The sensor was cabled tie back into position as the spring clip had been broken and the clips are not available separately from a complete new sensor. Having just spent £500 sorting the valley pipe out and another £250 that week on a small SC pulley and updated belt tensioner replacement and garage labour, I wasn`t in a hurry to spend any more on that occasion!! Being a tight wad, cable ties fixed the issue and have been in place for three years or so without issue.

I think an electronic diagnosis via 930i or other OBD unit might be the next port of call having firstly taken a look at the two front sensors to ensure there isn`t some issue present there.

Hi Al, have you got a solution to the front suspension yet? If so, what did you do to solve it? Best regards Robert

Finally got the computer to talk to the front suspension and deflated it, it has now settled back to normal but I can't for the life of me get the air suspension fault message to clear. But hey ho better that way than the other way around. Thanks for all the input. Al

This worked for me. The advice was from the internet.

Double lock the car and walk away for at least twelve hours. Don`t unlock or use the car over that period.

Amazingly, having done this action, my well lodged fault code disappeared. Worth a try?
