In order to get through this year's MOT, I've had to replace the two rear tyres on my 2005 SV8.
The old ones were Pirellis but I read an article somewhere recently suggesting Pirelli were not keeping up to date on tyre technology (probably written by someone from another manufacturer). So, had a look around and having read in the JEC mag that Swallows Racing were using Yokohama tyres, looked at those as well as the usual suspects. But reviews of the road tyres from Yokohama suggested poor grip in the wet, high rolling resistance, etc.
So, ended up with Michelin Pilot Sport 5s which weren't cheap but seem okay (after 12 miles!). They are 101 Y rated so may be a bit stiffer than the old ones but I think they seemed a bit quieter - although difficult to tell in such a well soundproofed car.
Interested to know if anyone else is using them and any thoughts.
