Hi Paul, when the mechanic looked, the fluid was low and he thinks it had developed a slight leak. So he has used a stop leak additive and topped the fluid up. It's now quiet and smooth again, so all good.

Tim,

Glad it's sorted for now. It's worth first cleaning off the pipe joints at reservoir / pump / rack and then ascertaining the cause of the leak.
