Clock running fast

My analogue clock has suddenly developed a fault where it will gain about an hour and a half overnight, or during the day from a correction to the time. In correcting the time I noted that the movement is reluctant to go backwards with the - (minus) button which may suggest something wrong with the once-per-minute impulse mechanism for the minute hand being the cause, rather than the quartz crystal and electronic divider chip, which are usually very reliable. I also tried advancing 12 hours to get to the right time, but the outcome is the same. I've seen an old post where a clock was running slow, but has anyone else had one run fast like this?

Brian,

Unfortunately, I can't offer any advice on fixing the clock. But used ones are usually available from about £30 on eBay, so could be an easier option.

Good luck

Paul

Thanks Paul, that sounds like a good idea. My 2006 car seems to be developing a range of "must fix that soon" problems: stuck rear passenger door, bonnet release cable (bodged for now) and now the clock!
