Rear audio

Postby david-c432 » Sat Feb 08, 2020 9:36 am

My X350 is a 2006, LWB with the original audio system that includes TV and DVD player. There is a separate control panel in the rear. The TV is, of course, analogue and so no longer works (I might look at that in due course). The issue is that none of the rear speakers will work; it's not the easiest system to navigate so the question is, might this be a failure of the system or am I being dim and simply not following the audio instructions properly? The system otherwise works fine with all components - radio, tape, CD and DVD - working normally. Any advice would be much appreciated - and if all else fails, any recommendations on an audio specialist (Midlands)? Thank you.

David,

Naive question, but I'm guessing you have gone into the audio setup screen and set the fader to bias the rear speakers?

Thank you Paul - very much appreciate your interest and not naive at all. Yes, I have and the sound fades as it goes to rear. There's also an on-screen graphic that shows the area selected and again, when set to rear, the sound goes. I wondered if there was a rear amplifier that might be faulty or have failed. If there is, the next challenge is locating it! I am new to X350s. I assume that diagnostics would only apply to the engine and not the entire electrical system. It is a beautuiful car; a joy to drive and this is not a major issue but I'm endeavouring to resolve the few niggles there are.

Best wishes - David
