Need to replace fading main indicator bulbs.
So has anyone used LED as a replacement for the tungsten and with what success or problems.
Bill.

As a back ground story, Bill, I had problems when I tried to convert side lights to LED. Despite using CANBUS compliant lamps, they used to flicker wildly when the engine was at idle speed. Not good at all so I reverted to normal tungsten but fitted brighter, whiter units. That has been highly successful although not as dynamic as the LED units first tried.

I`d strongly suggest you simply fit new standard lamps is only to avoid similar in service issues that I came across when I tried the LED conversion described above. A classic case of keep it straight forward and avoid any potential issues.

Hope that helps, Bill.

According to various web sites (example below) a car that was designed with tungsten exterior lights will be illegal for use on the road if those lights are replaced with LEDs. Basically, the car is only legal if it's in the form it was originally tested and type-approved. I guess it would be an MOT fail if the examiner noticed which, as they're not allowed to dismantle, is unlikely.

See, for example:

If you can find an entire approved replacement LED light assembly (I guess that includes reflectors and glass) you could fit that, but bulbs alone is off.
