Hi
Hoping someone could point me in the right direction. So my wipers are doing something strange. When I got my car ...2007 2.7 diesel sovergin... A few weeks ago the wiper we're a bit random. They kind of did their own thing. Bit they never went onto the fast speed. Now they only operate at one speed no matter what I try do. So they now only operate contiously a the slow speed now the intermittent doesn't work the fast speed doesn't work....if I put on intermittent I get slow continuous speed if it put on fast I get slow contious.
I have swapped the two wiper realys and their is now difference so I'm thinking not any realy.
Any help would be appreciated

Re: Windscreen wipers 1 speed only
I`d firstly check the ground points for corrosion and rotten connectors and cables behind the headlights. They are a notorious corrosion hot spot which can cause many issues. Expect the aluminum stud to the body work to snap as you release the nuts. Have a couple of new stainless 316 nuts, washers and bolts to hand before you start dismantling. Good grounding points are essential.
I can`t remember if there is a ground on the wiper unit but there is also another ground point somewhere around the cabin air filter box. That is also well worth checking.
Steering column switches do fail but that is a rare occurrence. My MY04 XJR had 2w93 17A553 A as the part number. However my wonky winter wiper issue was eventually traced to a sub-standard battery/ low charge state due to infrequent/short journey use at that time. I had mid screen wiper parking and occasional manic wiping as a symptom.
Try those ideas as a starter. Someone else may have a more informed and reliable answer.

Post deleted - I did not read your post properly to see that you'd already change the relays. Sorry.

I had similar problems and it turned out to be the column switch.
Multi-position switches like these work by selecting one of a set of unique resistances between ground and the wire back to the control box. The control box measures the resistance somehow; this means one wire carries all the possible switch settings, rather than needing a wire for each. The resistances seem to go off with age - that could be dirty joints in the connectors between switch and control box - each dirty connection will add a bit of unexpected resistance, and so put the signal into the wrong range. Also, I suspect they actually use a variable resistor (potentiometer) and just arrange the click stops at the appropriate resistance values. The trouble with that is potentiometers wear; typically they're a strip of carbon resistor with a metal wiper moving along it, and as the material ages, the carbon comes off and the resistance values creep higher until they're out of spec.

Re: Windscreen wipers 1 speed only
Thanks guys for the advice I am going to go through these and hopefully find the solution... I swapped both realys with each other and that made no difference. I tested them on the bench last week and they both seem to be switching fine so I think they are ok. I got a second had wiper stalk form Euro Jag and the next plan is to replace that and see what happens after that if no good I'm going on the hunt for bad earth connections....will need to get this sorted before the rain really kicks in and as I live in Ireland that will be sooner than later

Re: Windscreen wipers 1 speed only
I recall I paid about £90 for a brand new unit.
Eurojag are excellent second hand parts guys. Their prices are very fair.

Yes agreed on Eurojag....I'm new to Jaguar ownership and Eurojag and I purchased a number of items from the last week and what I would consider good fair prices...I will be calling them again for a few other bits I need in a short while
