Good afternoon forum.
I only have the one Key Fob for my 2003 XJ6 which does not work remotely to unlock the doors. I have replaced the battery and tried something shown on YouTube involving turning the key from positions 1 to 4 various times, which is alleged will reset it, but this has not worked.
I would be very grateful if anyone could advise where I might order a new Key Fob and also what the problem might be?
Thank you very much,
Tim.
Key Fob for central locking
Re: Key Fob for central locking
Hi Tim
I also am a new X350 owner and have learned so much from this site and all it's excellent advice. Mine also came with one fob, so I can help
- I ordered this item from ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-Buttons-Re ... 2749.l2649 No Relation of mine. It was easy to program and the "key" bit comes off and the fob attaches to your existing key, or you can get them cut (Tibbes key aka ford Key) Be careful some adverts for these are for the case only - read carefully. Programming the fob is via falshing the headlights with the key in pos 1 - there are excellent instructions on here.

Thanks Tim, that's extremely helpful. The current keyfob I have does not work for the central locking. I've put in a new battery and tried to programme, but not in the way you have described in your response.Hi Tim

Would flashing the lights with the key in pos 1 work for my current keyfob do you think? If so, please could you advise the exact procedure.
Cheers,
Tim.
Re: Key Fob for central locking
Worth trying the following which is the method I used and worked - the flash 4 times means flash really quickly, and it will program 4 0r 5 fobs and all, including existing ones must be done at the same time which means that if you have only two, then just keep alternating between them until it exits programming mode or you reach 5 (tbh this last bit is bit hazy but is quite intuitive)
1. Enter the car and sit in the Drivers seat.
2. Place the key in the ignition.
3. Hold the headlight flasher arm back – the blue “high beam” light will come on the dashboard and the headlights will come on.
4. Keep holding the headlight flasher back and turn the ignition key to position 1.
5. Release the flasher, and then flash the headlights FOUR TIMES. You will hear a “Beep” on the fourth flash of the headlight – this is to confirm that the car has entered Programming Mode.
6. Program each transmittor by pressing any button on each fob ONCE. You will hear a “Beep” to confirm the car has programmed to the fob.
7. The remotes are now ready to use.
Good Luck

Re: Key Fob for central locking
Hi, just to let you know that I did indeed by the spare key fob from eBay and my mechanic has set it up for me, so all good.
Thanks again for the information.
