Dsc fault

Did have intermittent air suspension fault code, and intermittent 'DSC not available'.... Feeling was that the dsc fault was related to suspension fault... But replacing compressor piston ring seems to be have removed suspension fat warning, but DSC not available is back. Reading codes reveals nothing, so presumably not wheel speed sensor related?? Where to look

Check that you have not crushed or pinched the sensor lead when you jacked the car for compressor overhaul.

The leads can fault but that is a rare occurrence. Also check and clean connections to the chassis loom plug and also the connection into the front wheel bearing cartridges which have internal ABS reluctors. Ensure wheel bearing cartridges do not show excessive play. Wheel bearings are usually on their last legs after about 80k miles use. Regard them as expendable items which require frequent replacement.

The rear wheel bearing reluctor rings are notorious for corrosion between the drive shaft and the ring. This can cause them to swell and split under internal corrosion between the shaft and the ring. The rings can also become externally dirty and the sensors also to suffer from dirt and other issues. Its worth going through all wheel sensors and reluctors to ensure mechanical integrity before shelling out on parts. That can be a long winded task but you might just discover a fault along the way.

Also check the battery is in good fettle as if it is starting to drop, this can cause erratic error messages.

I had the intermittent DSC error for a while, but effected a 'bodge' which solved the issue. The electrical tester proved the nearside rear wheel sensor was working, as was the connection to the vehicle. Except, when the connector end was slightly tensioned on the 2 pair wire. Lost connection. One of the wires lost its connection when pulled slightly. Couldn't get at terminating, so inserted a couple of sewing pins in the holes to where they were supposed to have a proper fix.
