I have just purchassed a x350 4.2 v8 with overheating problems, on inspection it has pushed open the joint on the stat housing , the joint with the silly spring clip, i see there is a alloy replacement for the early xj8, does anyone know of a alloy version for the x350, any ideas , thanks.

If no one posts up here try ringing or emailing David Marks or XJK engineering ,they should know what to do. It is beyond my knowledge base. The emails and numbers are in the magazine. Let us know if you find out the solution on here.

Is the tower like this one?

This one is fitted to a 4 litre S-type V8. I`m not aware that they are any different for XK8 or X308 models. I can`t see any differences between any of them when advertised.

Perhaps someone can verify that this aftermarket V8 thermostat tower will fit a 350.

The spring clip is functional. It serves as an electrical grounding point.

i only have a 350 R to look at , it is not the same, we need PTJS to come along he will tell us surely??

NO not the same the base is curved, thanks.

As most people know, the tower for the 4.2 engines fitted in the S-Type, XK & X350 is quite different to the earlier one fitted to 4.0 engines. DO NOT try and fit an earlier 4.0 engine thermostat housing kit to an X350.

At the moment, I am not aware of anyone selling ali kits for the 4.2 engines. A number of the suppliers of kits for the earlier engines have been approached about the production of a kit for the 4.2 but nothing seems to have been produced.

I think that you're going to have to fit an original spec plastic housing plus, of course, a new 'stat. Hopefully, that will then see you through for the life of the car.

Thanks for replys, have bought a new plastic housing , but has no clip, appears there should be one , can anyone confirm ,please.
