I get this if I accelerate at anything over a modest amount. Sounds like a load of old tin cans!

Car has done 250k miles but regularly maintained and good in all other respects. Runs on Shell Super all the time.

Any thoughts on why or should I just put it down to old age - mine & the car's

I thought there were anti knock sensors. Top of the engine, but under the superchaarger. It would be worth looking into whether they are working and/or still attached.
