Got this code coming up as an O2 sensor bank and the orange engine light on the dash. SNG Barratt list about 5 different O2 sensors. anyone know which one I need? My guess is that it's the sensor after the cat. Bank 2 is all the mechanic can tell me...

bozthesax,
Maybe time to find a new mechanic! Even a cursory check on the internet indicates that it's the upstream lambda sensor on Bank B on an x308 that throws a P1647.
Also, he should have swapped over the wiring plugs and see if it still threw a 1647 or changed to a 1646 (Bank A). That would indicate if it was the sensor or potentially the wiring loom.
You haven't said which model or VIN range you have. If you look on the Jaguar parts website (Always go there first!) you'll see that the upstream sensor part number is different for different engines and years. It'll be easy to enough to find the number for yours.
Cheers
Paul

bozthesax,
Once you've done the wiring swap test, if you decide you do want to replace the sensor, then I've found
www.gendan.co.uk very good for Jaguar OEM sensors.
I don't know your VIN but when you go to Jaguar's parts website, you'll see the very early N/A petrol engine ones supersede to the later ones anyway.
Good luck
Paul
