Hi all, bought my xjr during lockdown so it hasn't done a lot since I became it's owner. Following advise on the Forum the gearbox oil has been flushed with a new filter, expensive but immediately justified. Central locking rectified with the installation of a replacement drivers door module, folding mirrors stripped and cleaned and now working. All after research on this forum.
The chance of a trip to London was too much to resist, Off I set, happy in the knowledge that I'm driving a wonderful car that's on its way to being fettled. 10 miles later engine management light introduced itself with restricted performance displayed in the instrument cluster. Return home remove codes P0171 and 0174. The car ran down to the capital faultlessly, returning 31mpg average down the MII and to the olympic stadium. A more realistic but still pleasing 24mpg by the time I returned.
Every time the engine was turned of the codes re-appeared on restart. Scanner plugged in, codes cleared, car running fine, till I parked again. 5 times this sequence repeated itself. A little research on the forum led me to Mikes article in the magazine, August 2016. On removing the engine top cover I could see the detached pipe at the rear of the engine. No need to remove the air inlet pipework or alloy from the top of the engine.
