I've been advised both engine mounts require changing due to visible fluid leaks. Recently i could feel a slight tremor feeding into the cabin at idle, something the BMW specialist who changed by transmission fluid also picked up on.
I've been quoted £500 to change both by a Jag specialist - does this sound realistic using OEM parts and are there any other items to be address as a 'whilst you're in there'?
Thanks
Shirish

Re: X350R - engine mount replacement
Obviously, parts cost, labour and VAT can quickly hit £500. Best to find out parts cost and go from there. Lets face it, you are unlikely to get a pair of new hydraulic engine mounts for less than £250. With labour often at £100+ per hour plus VAT, you could easily hit that £500 figure.
Remember you have a car which originally cost around £55K. Expensive cars cost expensive money when parts need replacement. Having a professional garage do work for you is going to have your costs kept high. DIY repairs are a different matter.

Re: X350R - engine mount replacement
Thanks Mike
The cost doesn’t put me off as such, I just wanted to see if anyone else had had theirs done; and to see if anything else should be looked at in that area.

A very rare job. I`ve not heard of anyone yet who has had to change engine mounts. Best to ensure the need is real before forking out for new parts....first you have to get the under tray off. The fixings can be a nightmare due to corrosion. Best of luck!!!!!

Re: X350R - engine mount replacement
Two specialists have confirmed the mounts are leaking fluid, so pretty sure they need attention.
I’ll be farming this and the suspension work out

Suggest you take the car to Tom Lenthal Jaguar at Finchampsted.
Tom is the best in the area and will get both jobs done for you in a jiffy.

Re: X350R - engine mount replacement
I think I read, some time ago, that the fancy piezo-electric engine mounts used on the standard X350 (diesel in my case) were no longer available. Yours seem to be hydraulic - I wonder if they're a potential replacement for the piezo- ones; probably not, as I assume there's some pump and control valve setup to operate them (or are they just fluid-filled)?

Simple fluid filled, Paul.
Essentially they are rather like the big front bushes on the banana arms in construction.
