Jaguar generic P1000 &P1111 "fault codes" explanation.

Guys,
This might be useful to anyone doing their own diagnostics.
I run an iCarsoft 930i dedicated scanner as my prime diagnostic unit. These are available from UK Diagnostics from their site. Cost is around £90.
I also have on my Android phone (also available for iPhone units) with Torque Pro app used with the ELM327 blue tooth OBD plug in chip. The chip unit is available via ebay. Best advice is to try to find a V1.5 unit rather than the V2 which apparently has some issues. Costs for the ELM327 is around £5.
Both are useful units which do the job but operation of each is somewhat different and needs some practice to use effectively.
The Torque Pro and phone need to paired to the bluetooth ELM327. Some screen tapping is involved to get the Torque app operating successfully. Tapping the fault code section allows the system to run and any code present is displayed. Another couple of taps allows the code to be cleared if a fault is no longer present.
The iCarsoft unit though is dedicated Jaguar /Landrover dedicated and apart from selecting your model, Supercharger or Naturally Aspirated and model year, then selecting diagnose, results in a fault code scan and results. Any fault code if present can be easily cleared. If the code then reappears, you have an issue to investigate.
You may find P1000 and P1111 present on either the iCarsoft or Torque Pro. These codes are not fault codes at all. They signify two "fault codes" which actually are not fault codes ......... Essentially they signify that all is well and that the car is prepared for another scan for fault codes if required. They appear to be two codes that live quietly in the background and the display does NOT signify you still have a fault code present. It is not something to be worried about.
This link is to a useful video where the fellow using an ICarsoft unit clarifies the matter. I hope you might find the explanation useful.
