This might be useful to those with V8 models.
The main drive belt is C2C37063. From memory, I recall the belt is lifed for 100,00k miles before needing to be changed. However change earlier if the belt is showing signs of advanced wear. The number supersedes several other previous part numbers. Prices vary widely from a very highly priced Jaguar genuine item at about £94 to the more reasonable after-market items often supplied by companies such as Dayco at around £21. This belt fits the earlier Jaguar 4 litre V8 models as well as the 4.2 either in N/A or S/C guise. It is ribbed on one side only with the reverse being smooth backed. I`ve just bought one from Berkshire Jaguar Components via ebay for £20.50 delivered. Their part number is 351326087793. The part is from the Dayco range of products which I have used successfully in the past. (Indeed I note that I have already fitted a Dayco drive belt without issue to the supercharger drive. This extra belt is obviously only required for S/C equiped models.)
C2C37055. This is the early type smooth backed but ribbed on one side only, supercharger belt fitted on the 4.2R but I cannot confirm if that is suitable for Jaguar 4 litre models. This belt was fitted to early 4.2R units with the non ribbed and shouldered idler pulley directly below the super charger drive pulley........ The design was changed for cars made after 2005. It was often fitted as a retro mod to early cars which suffered belt chirp on cold start or those where belt flinging was a problem.
It is worth noting that when Jaguar addressed the belt chirp and fling issue, they produced a kit to deal with the issue. It comprises a belt that is ribbed on both surfaces together with a matching ribbed and shouldered idler pulley and revised mounting bracket. In addition, a complete up-rated tensioner is supplied in the kit which apparently has a stronger tensioner spring fitted within. A new double ribbed belt also forms part of the revised tensioner kit. The kit from Jaguar is around £275 but searching on the internet can find them for around £240. Any owner fitting either a 6% or 10% smaller super charger pulley is well advised to fit this revised kit to stop any chance of belt flinging which occurs due to additional load being placed on the tensioning system. How do I know this? I flung and wrecked two drive belts before I found out that the more robust kit was available. Highly recommended and well worth obtaining is you find that you have belt chirp, fling or oscillating tensioner problems. I need to find the part number for the double ribbed s/c belt and will edit this post as soon as I have it to hand.
Always go by Vin No when ordering and double check that the part is correct for year of manufacture.
