3.5 V8 Oxy Sensors

My 2005 3.5 V8 is showing an engine management light,my local garage says that his reader is showing an oxy sensor problem,just wondering how many there are & their location please guys & does the mention of 'bank 2' indicate where the problem lies.

There are four, a pre cat, and a post cat on each bank. Bank #2 is the left hand bank as viewed from the driving position. The diagnostic code will identify the sensor.

Bank of cylinders, 4 each side.

Thanks,the reason I thought it was the exhaust was that the oxy sensors I have seen in the past have been fitted into the exhaust pipe,being a dinosaur I miss having a Haynes workshop manual to look things up in!

Indeed they are before and after each Catalytic converter on either side. I had same issue on my XJR and turned out to be a leaking exhaust manifold and a failed Cat on one side, eventually sorted after a lot of investigation. Expensive to fix, mainly as new Cat needed. If the car is performing ok may be worth trying to replace each sensor in turn. Having said that I am no expert on these things!

has supplied me for about £20 each, instead of C£4million from the usual sources; they work perfectly.
Should you need new catalytic convertors, likewise aftermarket ones are a lot less expensive, and less power consuming, than those from Jaguar, https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/turbo_revs supplied me a pair for about £160 a couple of years ago. There was a fair amount of welding involved to make them fit, and attach all the Jag's sensors. They are also a bit more noisy:

It's the pre-cat sensor, ie; upstream of the catalytic convertor. (A fault in the wiring to the sensor will generate the same code.) They can be entertaining to remove.
