Folks,
I've been searching for a nice XJ6 V6 approx 2007, pre face lift, with about 25/30K miles on, in Jaguar Racing Green for over 6 months with no success.
I've tried Auto Trader and Jaguar Approved almost daily.
Questions :-
Was racing green an unpopular colour?
Were not many cars produced in this colour?
Do existing owners favour this colour and hold on to their cars?
Can anyone advise me where better to look than the above sources?

It might be all in the name.
My X350, a facelift, is in "Botanical Green", which is an opalescent very dark green that you might consider the nearest to racing green. As far as I can see, the facelift cars didn't do plain paints, only opalescent/metallic paints, so there's no true racing green unless someone had a respray. Not sure how much of this applies to pre-facelift cars.
If I remember correctly, old X308 was officially Brooklands Green, which was a version of racing green, but that's not the same model either.

Jaguar Racing Green is a metallic colour that was used on X350s. You tend to see it more on XJRs and Sport models rather than base V6 models.
Good luck in finding one. You might be better off just finding the right condition and mileage car rather than specifically looking for a JRG one which is obviously taking some time.

Green is not a popular colour on most cars, despite calling it "Racing ".
I know it is a personal choice and everybody has opinions on which colour shows off the car to its best but from my perspective, think about what may sell best in the future.
I dislike darker colours on the X-350 especially black ( waits for blackists to say I am wrong!!) as they are a pain to keep looking good. My previous non Jaguar was black and I bought it because of the price and specification. It looked good for about an hour after polishing but after rain it showed all the marks and demanded washing and polishing again. When it was hot the dark paint soaked up the sun and it became unbearable inside despite air con. I know the 350 has great air con but even in silver in the recent temperature my car has taken a while to get comfortable despite icy blasts from the vents.
In my opinion the best colours are silver and the metallic greys, and also everybody is buying either black or white cars these days so when my silver lady arrives everyone takes notice......ermm not that I worry about things like that!

Just checked an early brochure for the X350 (2004 model year ) and you could get British Racing Green and as discussed Jaguar Racing Green and from an 2007 brochure you could the BRG and JRG with the added choice of Emerald Fire , if im reading the brochures correctly Jaguar Racing Green and Emerald Fire are indicated as metallic but British Racing Green appears to be a base colour ! Hope the info is of some help and happy hunting
