How do I go about obtaining a valuation for an agreed value insurance policy? Please bear in mind I live in Mid Argyll in Scotland!
Regards
Ian.

Hi Ian, if you submit a request to James Blackwell in the JEC office, he can arrange via the local membership to have your car inspected, if required, in order to allow a valuation to be agreed and certificate issued. Of course your insurer would need to be of the type who accept such certification.

Thanks Jim. I’ll wait till the two front air struts are replaced (slight leak in one) and the car is undersealed. Should all be done and ready before the end of May. At that point, I may switch to club insurance, although, NFU Mutual are only charging £267 including b’down and legal fees. Not sure if the club insurers will beat that.

Ian.

Hi Ian, there are numerous threads on here regarding experience with the Club Insurance scheme, some good, some bad. In my own inquiry, I was appalled that the Club Insurance does not take any account of No Claims, i.e. it doesn't factor it in when developing the price, BUT ALSO, the policy if you go that route, does not earn No Claims Bonus. This means that you lose the NCD that you may have built up over the previous years with your insurers on the vehicle(s) and there is no guarantee of longevity of the Club scheme - previous schemes all foundered after a few years. It is not for everyone, I get that, but I was exceedingly disappointed with the waste of time involved. If there was a clear and transparent message in the advertising that indicated No Claims was not applicable in any sense of the process, I would not have even bothered.
Still, some folks like it, so they must have something to offer some people.

Thanks for the ‘heads up’ on that one Jim. I will see if NFU Mutual will agree an agreed value policy.

Ian.
