Recommendation for an indie close to Gatwick

Hi Guys,

I do not h@ve much time to jump on the forum due to work commitments these days. My XJR has crept up to 126k miles.....well actually it’s gained those mainly charging around Europe. Generally it is in good condition but I want to put it in to a good idie for a thorough service and refresh....

The main issue is a lumpy gear change from 2nd to 3rd gear (assuming the car starts in 2nd gear) and the drivers seat rear squab lift motor not working.

Also if I attach my code reader there are various electrical complaints that do not impact on general driving that need to be sorted.

I am half expecting a geRbox overhaul so I may as well go through the car with a suspension bush refresh at the same time.

So any recommendations will be gratefully accepted

Regards

Jon

Dunno about Gatwick but if you can come up the M23 to sth Croydon then there's Ray at Surrey Jags -- not the cheapest but they know their stuff -- 0208 689 3333 -- Beddington Farm Rd off the A23
Jerkey gearbox = ATF & Filter change first = about £88-ish 8)

For codes get them cleared and then see what comes back -- many can turn up due to low battery volts only, not the fault that they indicate. An iCarsoft 930 will do clearing. About £90 inc. Ray will charge you £30 for a codes' read and clear

Thanks Richard,

I had the gearbox oil and filter changed about 10k miles back. It did not improve the change...but equally it has not worsend.

I will call both numbers a have a chat with both. They can have the car fir as long as it takes. It ‘s such a fantastic car it is worth the investment to get everything A1.

Regards

Jon

If you're planning on doing a complete bush changeout, then PowerFlex is the way to go: for normal use don't get their original harder Black series -- you'll be impressed by the noticeably improved handling but the ride's harder. Unless that is you fancy having a track day 8)

Their standard range Blue series is closer in flex to the rubber you'd be replacing. But still better
