Postby jagfanken » Sat Jul 13, 2024 6:29 pm

hi my 2004 x350 bonnet insulation panel has sagged a little in the middle and has touched part of the engine causing a hole. it is fixed round the edges by black clips i have got a new panel with new clips and wanted to check if the original was secured in the middle someway. should the new one be stiff enough to fix just with the clips round the edge.can anyone advise me thanks ken

Mine is the same. I'll also be interested in any responses.

Hi have not got a answer yet but will in contact with my garage that does my service I have got most of the parts I have replaced on the car from a firm called British parts ltd they mainly jaguar land rover parts.if parts in stock they are sent next day delivery.very knowledgeable and helpful if not in stock you get delivery in 3 to 5 days and cheaper than jaguar and other parts firms if I can't fit myself I order and my garage will fit them for me .when I get the information about the bonnet insulation I will let you know ken

hi I have received a new bonnet insulation panel from britishparts this was not a stock item and they ordered it from jaguar with my vin number when it arrived I thought it was the wrong one as it is longer than original but the fixing holes were exactly correct the bits that extend past the original have small oblong holes in as if these can be fixed to bonnet and the shaped ridge fits into edge of wings when closed but I have not fitted it yet as i do not know how the extended bits fix to bonnet has anyone had this problem and know how to fix this ken

First I must admit that I have no idea.

However have a look on the SNG Barrat website as they have exploded diagrams of sections the car etc and youi might be able to identify any required part from that.

Good luck

If you look at the parts diagram on Jaguar's Parts website, you'll see that there's a clip shown by the bonnet liner. I don't know if that's the ones you need, but you could ask your dealer and then get them to order it in to check. IME, they'll be fine to return it if it's not correct.

Also if you're buying genuine Jaguar parts, rather than aftermarket items for an x350, I'd always check Jaguar's Classic Parts website first as they sometimes have discounts 10%-20% running for direct purchases. And always check their first to get the correct part numbers, irrespective of who you ultimately buy from. Also, my dealer will usually give me 10%+ discount. So I always find this cheaper rather than buying genuine parts through SNG Barratt etc.
