ULEZ and updating DVLA records

Postby cafcpete » Sat Jul 03, 2021 10:52 am

Hello,
I have just checked on the transport for London web site and it tells me that my 2003 X350 is liable to pay for driving in the ULEZ.
I didn’t believe this was correct so went to the DVLA site and for my car it shows
CO2 emissions not available

Then using autotrader I found the number plate for the same model just a few months older and it shows
CO2 emissions 264 g/km

When I used this number plate on the TFL website it said it passed their test and didn’t have to pay to drive in the ULEZ

So the BIG question is, how to I get the DVLA to update and correct their records for my car?

Thanks,
Peter

Well I contacted Jaguar customer service and they sent me a certificate of conformity.
This I was able to send digitally to TFL and now my car has been excepted as meeting the correct standard.
So all good now.

Be careful with TFL versus DVLA. You would think that if you have a vehicle classified by the DVLA as a "Historic Vehicle" taxation class (in my case a 1969 Triumph motorcycle) it would be straightforward, not liable for ULEZ. However, it's worth checking what TFL think it is. Previously, (6 months ago) putting in my registration number found the correct vehicle details but said it was NOT exempt and stated I would have to make an individual submission with photographs for consideration, despite the web page guidelines stating that motorcycles over 40 years old are exempt.

A current check today shows that they now think it IS exempt. The question is how often do they update their data base records; I know people who have had a battle royal with TFL where their database vehicle details don't align with those of the DVLA - you don't want to get caught out!

hi I seem to have the exact same issue !
I JUST purchased an XJS 350 3.5 V8 petrol 2003 that has been correctly imported from Japan and according to the DVLA its ULEZ compliant but i have started to receive fines for the car for not paying ulez. Called TFL - limited help as you would imagine
I really need to sort this urgently so any help here is greatly appreciated
