I bought my first X350 last July as a stablemate for my STR. I love a challange so as with my STR 3 years ago I took on a car that needed some serious TLC. Its an early XJR in Platinum with Ivory and Had the Registration BT 03 EKA. It had stood for nearly 3 years with an imploded gearbox. It had no paperwork, or History and only one key. Mad you might say but it was bought for scrap value. After a gearbox change by a specialist and some work to recommission whilst I waited for the documents it passed its MOT and was put on the road as a rolling project.
I am trying to trace its history as best I can and when I took the car to Statstone this week for an outstanding recall he put the vin into the system and said "Oh you have got a factory car" Not wishing to show my ignorance I did not really comment.
Does this mean it was simply a staff car for a manager or could it be more interesting???

Having done a quick check on the vehicle, my guess (and it's only a guess!) is that it was just registered to Jaguar Cars at the outset. The VIN is not a very early one, so no real possibility of it being a pre-prod or development car.

If you can see the precise name of the first registered keeper, you can sometimes understand if it was a company car for an employee or one registered for a different purpose (display, presentation etc). I'm not sure about Jaguar but other manufacturers had very specific names and departments for company cars.
