Adaptive speed limiter ??

Hi all. 
I am new to the group and hoping that someone can explain how i set up / turn on the adaptive speed limiter on my 2017 XF ? I am told that the car will read the speed limit of the road and set the speed limiter so as not exceed that particular limit but i cannot work out how its activated. Is there a simple way of explaining this please ? The manual just confuses me further.
