BBC2's transmission of an hour long tribute last night (Saturday 18th March) was awesome and for any patriot that missed it well worth watching (BBC IPlayer available for a further 29 days)
She did attend a dinner a few years ago courtesy of one of the JEC's regions.
A Mk VII/VIII/IX from Heritage wafted her too and from the event. Indeed, the mark was also said to be the Queen Mother's favourite car -- so we're all in good company
During the programme, a fleeting glance was given to a home movie shot of Dame Vera's parents' house with a white Mk VII (or VIII or IX) on the driveway. I've tried enhancing the image but apart from reading the rear VRM plate as having a "9" as its last digit (best I could do was <letter><letter><letter><number possibly a "9"><number><"9"> that's all I could make out.
The family name was Lewis, although during the programme Dame Vera's real surname was given as Walsh (?)
I wonder whether that car's still in existance? Or does any archivist know what happened to it?
