To thoroughly round off an annoying weekend despite the car running very well back from up north, whilst having it's ball joint dust covers replaced so it could pass the MOT, the garage concerned jacked the car up on the sill edges rather than the jacking points! The result is 3 bent sill edges ( 2 on newly welded sill panel) and the fourth sill edge completely flattened OSF . Those in the know realise that this is the car from hell with demons deep at work in it's metal. Annoyed isn't the word. Why didn't I speak to the owner of the garage? Well, he's an old skool friend and I don't want to hurt his feelings. For what it's worth, the front wing was coming off anyway - this gives us the chance to sort out the only part of the car not yet dealt with in my ownership of some 5 years. Once the wing and sill is done and painted, I'm having the jacking point painted in flourescent yellow with a large sign printed in several different languages:
USE THE JACKING POINTS OR ELSE!
Good night all..........

Re: Jacking points
My local MOT station is run by mate. He says "NEVER use the jacking points on any car more than 10 years old." Carry a proper hydraulic jack on more substantive chassis or suspension members."
