Accdording to the DVLA it hasn't been taxed since October 2000.

Seems pretty likely it has gone for scrap by now.

According to VOSA only 30 1978 XJ6s were presented for MOT in 2007 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/opensecrets/ ... p_2007.xls)

So the SII is becoming quite rare.

i had indicated this to the owner, I have also suggested he fills out form V888 for a complete history of the car, this may give him a clue of its last know whereabouts

it's worrying just 30 1978 XJ6 for mot three years ago, it's the same with XJ40 V12 just over 50 cars from memory

perhaps more interesting is the question:

Where do you get the info about how many examples of a certain model are MOT'd every year? The VOSA web site is mentioned here but I can't find anything that seems to link to that useful sort of information!

Can you post the link please Al?

Thanks Clive

It's in my post above, Clive?

Actually a link to a spreadsheet of the 2007 figures prepared by the BBC journo whose FOI request forced the agency to publish. With typical bad grace they have continued to withold the info for later years while claiming that they are going to publish it 'later'.

They also published it in as unhelpful a format as possible (a multipage .pdf file)
which is on their website here:
http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/contactus/f ... ts2010.htm

It's almost at the bottom.
