Getting my Daimler back on form
Moderator:LJR
Advice please from all of you out there. My Daimler Series 3 4.2, is running fine, however MOT time looms and a few niggles need sorting. The poor car has been a bit neglected of late due to the purchase of a 1949 Riley RMB. ( I do like big British saloons) (1) Where is the best place to buy tyres, ( Stockport, NW England area) (2) Does anybody know a company that will remove my front & rear screens and replace the seals. ( again local please if possible.) (3) Likewise the headlining. I understand that removing the screens is necessary so I'd obviously like to have the two jobs done at the same time. (4) Finally, I don't use the car much due to the cost of the fuel. Has anyone out there had an LPG conversion done on one of our cars? I know it's initially expensive but it would mean I could use it regularly. Thanks in anticipation. ( I will try to get to one of the club meets sooner or later honest! )

Hi Stevie
Why not try Derek Watson (Watjag) in Bakewell? A pleasant drive and not too far for you and they'll do you proud. Good people, reasonable prices and free advice. What more could you ask? They advertise in the JE magazine, inside rear cover.
They do a lot of restoration work and know what works and what doesn't and only use/sell parts that they are happy with, rather than what's cheap. They should be able to do all your jobs in one go too. Not sure about the LPG aspect but there has been a lot written about it recent years within the club. Might be worth tracking down some the articles and web forum threads.
I'm only connected to them in that I am a satisfied customer.
Regards
Stuart
