hi folks!,
back from thoresby what can i say a 620 mile round trip from my home in perth,but apart from sundays monsoon!!!what a fantastic weekend!,great venue, thoresby hall in our opinion(my wife and myself!) was fantastic,we met some really friendly peaple,(one being rob jenner and party (what a character,(try to out party this guy at your peril!!).
the 82 double six ran like a swiss watch there and back!!.
but special mention must go to simon phillips,this guy drove from oxford in appaling rain to bring me the above mentioned rear window he had promised,it was so wet at this point he hardly dare get out of his car!,this sort of spirit typifies the club, thanks simon you are a true gem!!.

Thanks for that Ian it was good to meet you and hopefully we can manage some better weather next time! I did have a wander and it was good to see the corsica although i,m not too sure about the window fit! They should have produced it though as it looks great. I didn,t know there was a 2 door coupe convertible either! I couldn,t find the oxford region stand to say hi so apologies there. Congrats to all those in 60,s and before cars with even worse heaters and wipers than my series 3 you must have struggled on the way home! At least it made the paintwork on mine look ok in the rain! I will try to get to more shows this year weather and money permitting as we all know business is naff at present.

Ian, I've got a series III 1979 XJ12 I'm thinking of selling if you're interested? It would be a bit of a project though because it is currently refusing to start and has been SORN for 2 years! Could be fairly cheap though.

thanks for the offer,but i am heading down to alan proctor at the end of the month to get my rear window removed some rust issues sorted and the glass re-fitted and sealed again,a fair job but apart from that the car is very good,if i bought another one at present i think my wife would leave me!!.

just a quick post,i have my car back and it looks great i had the rear window removed and the work carried out by alan proctor and andrew ross of alan proctor jaguar restoration,they done a fantastic job on the car in general also sorting some other areas which were in need of some attention.
I think the moral of the story is if you have aseries 3 and the dreaded rust bubbles appear around the rear window,get it sorted sooner rather than later!,as the damage which goes unseen under the window can be alarming to say the least!.

ps i also got a few other jobs sorted by dave marks in nottingham,and thankfully he managed to remove and reclaim the threads of 3 of the 12 spark plugs which had been fitted cross threaded by the previous owner!,phew!!.

Good to hear you're all sorted. My sagas continue with trying to get the '79 seriesIII started! It's now turning over and coughing occasionally but steadfastly refuses to fire properly, luckily I've found a local mechanic to take it on so I'm crossing my fingers that I might have her on the road before our pathetically short summer comes to an end! It sounds like you had a fun trip to Thoresby did you do it there and back in one day?

no we stayed at thorsby over the weekend,it was all set to be a fantastic event,but it rained stairrods!!!,we still had a good time though as the jec brigade are a great bunch!.
I hope you manage to get your car going ok,on song theres nothing to touch them!.
