XJC front door armrest / Aldridge Trimmers

Postby paulgulliver123870 » Thu Jul 07, 2022 9:16 am

I wonder if anyone can help answer this one ? As part of my restoration on the 1977 yellow gold Daimler coupe I am replacing the front drivers door armrest that has disintegrated, it has big chunks of hard vinyl missing!
I am looking at the Aldridge trimmers shop online and they have a trim kit for it! which will need to be fitted.
but after a very slight brain wave, I looked on Ebay, and found a 1976 4 door front drivers armrest complete with pocket, I know the door is longer on the coupe but I cant imagine the factory redesigned this part, Does anyone know if I am correct in my assumption that this maybe the same part for both 2 and 4 door cars of this date??
Also as anyone any experience with Aldridge Trimmers good or bad ! I am looking at their leather seats (covers), and is it a specialist job to fit them onto my seats, or can one DIY ?
Cheers
Paul

Series 2, 2 and 4 door cars, used the same front door armrest/pocket except for Vanden Plas models. Fitting seat covers is a matter of personal skills and patience! It is not especially easy but can be done. Aldridge Trimming does have a good name although I am reporting others' experiences and not my own since I've only bought occasional trim from them. Mike.

Many thanks Mike, The 4 door arm rest and pocket arrived today and I can confirm you are correct, exactly the same and a perfect fit.
I am going to visit my local trimmers to get their opinions, Dare I mention Aldridge to them !!

Cheers
Paul
