XJ6C 1976

HI,

I'm currently having my XJ6C restored after a recent purchase and could do with some bits and bobs that were/are missing.

I seem to remember from a Series One that I had years ago (wish I still had that one too) that had a wooden cover in the boot over the spare wheel well, thus making a flat surface above the wheel well.

Was this so on the Series 2?

If so, would anyone know where I could acquire one from? Not bothered about what colour it is as the car will be re-trimmed, or where it is in the UK, I'm always out and about all over the place with work so a trip here and there is not a problem.

As its a Daimler Coupe, it also has the rivets to accept the stainless clip on trim along both sides - these too are missing and I would like to replace these too, again, same with the above, not bothered about traveling to pick up etc.

Many thanks

Ian

Hi Ian,

My previous Series 1, which I sold two years ago, had a plywood board covering the spare wheel well. This upper surface of this board was painted gloss black (the car had a black boot carpet). My present Series 2 has the same plywood board, only painted matt black, and with dark grey foam padding / insulation affixed to the upper surface. Both of these boards being fitted with twist fasteners to secure the board to the boot floor.

I would think a Jag breakers might be a good source. Hope that helps.

Hi John,

Many thanks for responding to my message.

I have had a conversation with the fella that is going to be carrying out the re-trimming of my car and he has stated pretty much what you have.

He has a great relationship with Ken Jenkins and has stated that Ken (if anyone) would have these readily available, however, he has also stated that if thats not the case then he would make one for me.

I feel blessed :-)

The boot floor you are looking for is available on ebay at the moment from someone that is breaking an XJC.

Also I'd love to get the details of your car for the register. You can post on here or send to XJCregister@outlook.com

Boot floor cover now sourced, as are some other odds & sods.

Still looking for those one of those elusive door trims and the even more hens teeth (with lips) rear "C" pillar chrome trims that cover the vinyl roof - if anyone out there has any I would be very interested.

Like most coupe specific trim, those C pillar trims will be difficult to find. Be aware that there are two types. The very first few coupes had a trim piece with a small extra 'leg/barb'. Mike.
