Coachlines

I have a 1971 Daimler Sovereign in Jaguar light blue; the pressed steel wheels are painted off white - actually a very white shade of light grey. Together with the chrome (when polished up!), the overall effect is very pleasing but a while ago I wanted to streamline the bulk of the car by adding coach lines to match the colour of the wheels. There has followed many weeks of mocking up sections of coloured tape in various widths numbers and positions to see what the effect might be both over, on, and below the body line crease that runs most of the length of the car, and I am still undecided.

As far as I know, Jaguar didn't use coach lines or chrome strips on the S1, and the many different styles of coach lining shown on web sites are no doubt after market modifications.

The fact that I am undecided makes me think that it might not be a good idea after all!

I would be interested to hear if anyone else has added or removed coach lines and whether they were pleased with the result.

you could always just put them on one side of the car, and see which side you can live with.......

but seriously , as we have discussed, its personal choice, we all customise our car to a certain degree from fluffy dice to choice of repaint colour , and its not up to anyone else as its your car

is there anyone on here that can photoshop a good pic of your car with multiple pinstripe/coachline options for you to contemplate

Thanks BB. As you imply, the aesthetic choice is down to me. Kind of you to suggest a photo shop image, but I'm not sure that will help me - I think the answer is to have a good look round a few gatherings this summer to see pin striped series cars "in the flesh". Until then I'll keep the lid on the paint tin!
