Have a look at the XJ6/12 valuations under the model forums tab of the JEC site. They are only a guide, but..........

Malcolm,
Like you, I have little idea of values , however I was at the NEC Classic Car Show last week and saw three of the XJ Series for sale. A series One for 18K, a Series Two for, I think 16K , sorry can't remember the last. Each of them looked excellent on the surface. The trouble is we shall never know what they actually sold for or even if they were sold.
I have to say the photo's of the one to which you refer look excellent coupled with a low mileage. Subject to a VERY VERY close and through examination I could be tempted myself. The trouble is I have one exactly the same model and colour, if the rarity claim is correct I must have one of the other two or three vehicles supposedly left.
I'm sure you will approach this with extreme caution but if you do chose to purchase it I might be a bit jealous !

PS You do realize that this a carburetted engine and due to it's gluttonous use of petrol is not suitable as a daily runner !

Yes they are thirsty beasts, I have the same engine in my etype roadster so it was only intended for Sunday drive in summer months and the occasional car show,

As an owner I, like you OT, shall be delighted if the asking prices at the NEC are achieved!
The only way to get a handle on realistic market values is to look carefully and thoroughly at as many cars as you can and follow their asking and sale prices - in effect making your own schedule of comparables. Research takes quite a long time but is worth it in the end. Some of these high priced XJs stick around on the market for some time.
