History / Driver pack handbook etc

1/ I have just bought a 1977 Daimler XJC 4.2 (VGT 675R) from Bonhams and unfortunately it has little to no history, Luckilly I am in touch with the last owners who have been very helpful, but it seems by my reckoning the bulk of the paperwork got lost in a box during a house move!
Does anyone know if Jaguar heritage or anyone still sells copies of the drivers packs, wallet service book etc,

2/ I am getting the Heritage certificate, that will at least tell me who sold the car, apparently it was bought by a well known sportsman, and it still has its Guy Salmon plates on, but Guy Salmon was sold to Synter and between them they seem to have lost the records of this car ! SO annoying, I got so close, I even called Hartwells but no joy!

HELP any ideas chaps.

ps; I wonder if the DVLA would supply copy of original log book, but this date protection seems to get in the way all the time, even if the poor fellow is deceased.

Hi Paul, unfortunately you will almost certainly come up against a brick wall called GDPR when searching out the history of the car over the last 45 years or so. The GDPR rules makes it illegal for a trader to pass along information that contains personal details in any shape or form.

DVLA will provide nothing, although you may still be able to see the MoT history, which could give clues as to its location over the years.

Not sure that Jaguar Classic will be of any assistance regarding original type paperwork that was supplied with the car, probably best to check out the likes of eBay and other auction type sites.

Another potential is to ask your Model Section Coordinator to place a plea for assistance in the JE magazine, best if you write up the story of sourcing and buying the car and supply that to him with a couple of nice photos. Contact details will be at the top of the relevant page in the magazine.
