Cold running, misfire, black smoke,

Hi, I have been plagued by poor running when the engine is warming up.
It starts ok, but misfires when you try to excellerate until it reaches 75deg.

There is a mod! This fault is common with series 3 xk engines with Efi.

Model XJ6 Series 3 4.2
Subject: Air Flow Meter.

The cause is interference from the ignition circuit affecting the operation of the Fuel enrichment circuit.
The cure is to fit a 100uf 25volt electrolytic capacitor across pin 6 and 8 of the Air meter.

I have fitted this mod and it works.
