Non-Jaguar Projects

I guess we are mostly petrol heads on this forum, or at least have an appreciation of cars.

For my sins, I am the current Chairman for the Quantum Owners Club (http://www.quantumowners.co.uk), which means I'm not as involved with this club as I could be.

Apart from the restoration job, which I hijacked Mike's post with, I am in progress of rebuilding a Quantum H4 that I built over 10 years ago. Wanting to learn more about engines I am putting in an engine to be controlled using a Megasquirt ECU, which last weekend I finally have wired in enough to connect the battery. To say I was pleased that I could talk to the ECU straight away is an understatement, although there is a lot of calibration required - I don't think the water temperature sensor should be reading -30C!

If there is interest I might get around to posting some progress here.

This weekend I will be at the National Kit Car Show at Stoneleigh. If anyone is going feel free to pop into the QOC Marquee and say hi.

Regards,
Steve

Nice, Steve.

I fancy an Xtreme with an STR lump!

Appreciate your input on my fibre glass post. Good to see what other people get up to and see their techniques.

I have a TC coupe Marina that I bought new in 1972, I rebuilt the body about 15 years ago (nowhere near as rotten as the MkII I rebuilt). I got tired of replacing axles and gearboxes so fitted a dolomite spring axle and sierra type 9 gearbox and then fitted a mondeo head to the Marina block, and fitted a ford rubber belt and wheels to drive the 3 cams.

It is fuel injected and coilpack ignition and all run from a Canems ECU, plugged into the laptop and guessed an ignition map and then used a wired in wideband lambda and data logger to set the fueling to 12.5 to 1 on one map and a bit less on another for more economy. The suspension has been rebuilt to give power oversteer, a lot of fun and faster than people expect.
