no , very high
but i expect its due to a few things
non uk resident at the moment, ? and zero no claims bonus
you could try getting a quote for a classic car policy , and ensure your a UK resident
you car and your age should be around £250 ?
you might have to bite the bullet for a few years before these perimeters kick in ??

hi bb
I think I can transfer no claims over with me, as I did that when I moved to Malta, will try through JEC recommended insurance companies, might get a discount, do not want to leave the old girl behind, as she is in excellent condition

Your Car will qualify for a Classic Policy through the JEC recommended companies, however not being garaged overnight could be a problem with some of them.

I ensured my STR through Endsleigh for 5,000 miles, parked on drive, clean licence but 1 claim in last 3 years, 9 years NCD (protected) for just less than £250. Worth a try, just did it through comparethemarket.com.

It really does pay to shop around for a best price. Differences between companys can be very large indeed.
As said, it is well worth going to internet sites which will give you a range of cover options and differing compulsory and voluntary excess amounts together with a maximum agreed mileage limit. Adding or subtracting legal cover, breakdown cover and stating whether you wish to drive other cars third party, will also make a difference in potential premiums.

I have just bought a 2.7D 2007. My current insurance through Aviva is £230 for my XJ X308 and £280 for my XJ X350. However today they quoted me £580 for the diesel S Type! No real reason why. So I will try the JEC Insurance partners.

OK, the JEC Insurance Partners were no better!
Adrian Flux quoted £570
Peter James quoted £527
Footman James were the most professional and quoted £431 with only £50 excess. However I would be limited to 7K miles per year - no more.
As I will probably use the S Type as my daily driver I have decided to stay with my current Insurance By Mercedes Benz at £571 and not rock the boat. Mercedes Benz have looked after me well in the past and I am very happy with them.
However, I think the JEC should negotiate a better deal for members - there does not seem to be much benefit if at all.

Your FJ quote is only a couple of hundred pounds more than my initial S-type price of nearly ten years past. So it really isn`t that bad is it?
Insurance rates have so many variables to factor in.
Age and claims record, endorsements, years of NCD, protected, legal aid, mileage, location, garaged or not, SDP only and or business use, compulsory excess, voluntary excess, driving of other vehicles, sole driver, multiple drivers and their ages and claims records, their relationship to you, windscreen cover, breakdown insurance level, courtesy car provision in the event of an accident, or have the same vehicle replacement evaluation. etc etc.
None of us will be the same age, have the same record or live in the same location, use the car for the same perose, cover the same mileages or secure the car in the same way. Little wonder to my mind that insurance costs vary between us so widely.
