My S Type track build #trackuar

Postby Ryan. xjr » Wed Mar 17, 2021 1:19 pm

Hi guys, thought I would post a build thread of my S type track build, nothing serious, but something I want to have fun on and eventually look back on. To me, if an S type is going to die, it's going to die on track.

Brief back story:
Last year I sold my track clio 182 as I have a new found love for all thing Jaaaaaag. An x300 inherited from my dad to me and my brother sparked interest in a car i never previously looked at. This turned into buying a 98' xjr and never look back since.

THE S TYPE
Last october I bought an 99' S type 3.0 manual on 35k miles. A complete blind buy off ebay from down in cornwall, bearing in mind I'm in blackpool :) The low miles lured me in and it had to be british racing green (or some form if green). And an ebay listing won at £580 ensured that.

To put it simply, it was quite the LEMON. As it was a blind buy no MOT I was expecting a little, but what I had on my drive was a jag with:
- no cats.
- a hole in the rear sub frame you could fit your hand in.
- paintwork that looked like it had been cleaned with a kitchen scour pad.

Got all these problems and a good few others sorted it and got it through its MOT and insured. The interior disgusted me and I quickly got onto the track prep.

In it's current form. Picked up some cheap mercury alloys with tyres in good condition, which was lucky as I needed tyres all round anyway. Also a correct fitting mesh grill. I want do at least 1 full track day before so I can focus where I want to improve and spend my hard earned cash. Budget build being the key point of this.
