Remove Manual Gear Knob

Hi all,

Does anyone know how one would go about removing the gear knob from a manual diesel S Type?
I've bought a nice looking replacement surround and can't seem to fathom how to remove the knob! Attempting to twist it anti-clockwise seems almost impossible to do!

Not sure about that particular model, but most are just threaded on. Maybe a grub screw holding it on?

As above posts but check for lock screws on locking collet below gear knob.
