Servicing in Hampshire

Postby OllieG » Tue Mar 07, 2017 4:05 pm

Hi All,

So, I've been running my V8 S-Type for a few months now, it's on 103k and it's due a service...

I've just moved to Alton in Hampshire and was wondering whether anyone could recommend a local independent?
Has anyone had any experience with Barney Jones in Farnham, Surrey?

Any advise would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Ollie

I`m down at Portsmouth. Our Regional guys, including myself, use Tom Lenthal at Finchampstead or Jagcare near
Ports Solent Marina. Both excellent set ups.

Not used Barney Jones so can`t comment.

If not already carried out at 60k miles, the gearbox should have had an oil and filter change. This service item was not on the original service schedules from Jaguar. ZF, the gearbox makers now recommend a service every 60k miles to avoid transmission failures. The cost is usually around £350 which includes a genuine ZF filter, new electrical collar and the correct genuine ZF Lifeguard fluid.

Brilliant.. Thanks for that Mike and for the info on gearbox oil..

Tom Lenthall's is only 20 miles away, so I'll be giving them a call!

Top guys at Tom`s.

You might also have the back axle oil changed. It will come out like grey gravy! Not much to have that done.

Gerald Morton (Viezu Berkshire) lives in the broom cupboard. Gerald did a nice re-flash job on both my 4 litre S-type many years ago and also one on my X350R more recently. That makes a good car great. Easier to drive, more grunt etc. Worth considering.

Please give these guys my best wishes. All known to us down here in Portsmouth Region as Tom and Gerry!
