Hi All
Was just wondering if anyone would have the answer to this problem? I have an S-Type late 55 reg and also have Bluetooth telephone system fitted, Problem is Samsung has just upgraded my operating system on the phone to 5.1 and it now seems that the phone will not connect to the vehicle bluetooth system? Odd I know but when I reset the mobile telephone back to 4.4 operating system it works fine again with the onboard bluetooth system? So my question is .....Is there some sort of upgrade software that you can have done at a main dealer or Jag agent to account for all the new phones coming on the market?

Re: Samsung Upgrade
As I`ve found out recently on my 04 X350 pre Bluetooth, that the electronic side of these cars and available upgrade with later parts, is a minefield for those outside the industry.
I think the most direct answer to your question is probably answered best by a Main Dealer.
Montana5 though is pretty clued up on this type of issue so perhaps he can help. No doubt he will be seeing this post when he next logs in.

Re: Samsung Upgrade
I'm no expert on Bluetooth but will do my best to offer help based on my experience and from what others have said. It would appear that Samsung have really messed up with all these upgrades, you would think that all their Phones and Pads etc would all be on the same latest software, unfortunately that is not the case, my own S4 Mini is on 4.42, despite being set to Auto Update and checked just about every day, there are loads of Samsung users expressing their dissatisfaction over this, some even suggesting the new software is a step back from what has just been upgraded.
I don't have the Bluetooth Module fitted to my 2002 S Type so only use the Bluetooth connection on the 2012 Ford S Max, which works fine.
After taking the 5.1 download, have you tried unpairing the device from the car, then pairing again as if you were adding a new phone, I have heard that only one phone can be paired at a time, therefore it could be the car is not recognising the device, as it already has a Samsung phone paired: yours
The Bluetooth Auto Connect App gets a good name for assisting with connection problems.
Not sure if this will be of any help as it seems a bit out of date Jaguar Connectivity Centre

Re: Samsung Upgrade
Hi Montana
Thanks for the replies from both of you, Have done some more digging with both Main dealers and Jaguar Coventry Head Office tech dep’t seems that there are so many mobiles with so many upgrades that Jaguar are way behind (unlike Land Rover's) they quote that although certain mobile manufactures work with them they cannot and will not guarantee that any mobile software upgrade they list will even work with the Bluetooth system for older vehicles they did give the web address of the connectivity centre to check for myself if my mobile was listed, http://jaguar50.nextgen-technology.net/ ... RegionId=1
But when you go there put your Jaguar vin number in and check the mobiles the best they come up with for Samsung is 4 models not even 5 or 6 are listed! Typical Jaguar! So no updates there then! so even booking it in a main dealer and trying an upgrade isn’t going to download much! However my Samsung 4 & 5 both work with the current Bluetooth system in my vehicle provided as I said I do not allow the Samsung upgrade on the mobile to take place from 4.2 up to the new lollipop or 5 release! I did try to reconnect to the system after the first upgrade Montana but the screen doesn’t even give you the keypad to use it just shows the usual message that no phone is connected to the system? Also spoke to my main dealer service manager very knowledgeable guy and as he said with Land Rovers even though the connectivity centre shows no listing of mobile they still connect but sometimes you will not get all the functions! i.e. you may get to use the phone but you may not get to use the phone book or contacts? or you may not get to stream music etc. it really depends on the mobile, That’s why my Samsung’s 4 & 5 both work just as long as I don’t upgrade to software release 5? This really all came about as I was thinking of upgrading to a Samsung Edge 6 and really was wondering has anyone out here in Jaguar land got one and has paired it up with their 10 year old Bluetooth system? Because just because it’s not listed in the connectivity centre doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t work? Am also going to check with Samsung tech dept as well to see if there are any other bug fixes for this problem their end? So will update all when the story unfolds!
