Thought I would write a few words to say what's happen recenty on my 2006 STR now at 75000ish miles. In general all's going well, it had a new set of Bridgestone's last year when the front Continentals developed cracks on the side walls, they were about 4 years old and probably half worn, they came with the car so I can't be very precise.
I had Bristol Transmissions change the gearbox oil in January, the oil was black but didn't have any detectable bits in it. I feel better for having it done but in truth the car drives as it did, unlike the 2.7D I had which was dramatically improved.
It also had its regular service this week and I found out the battery was on its last legs, so that's been replaced as well.
The only other strange issue was that on three separate occasions when moving slowly forward (5 - 10 mph) in motorway traffic jams it lost interest and the engine stopped. Each time the motor restarted immediately, but a bit troubling even so. This being with a well warmed engine probably at least 100 miles and being in stop / start traffic for around 10 - 20 mins. Not faults found during the service. I'll keep you posted on that one.
All the best
Mike

Re: STR Update
Thanks for the update, Mike.
I wonder if that could be a speed sensor issue or a choked up throttle throat. Has been known.
Certainly complex these cars. How I sometimes wish they had an on board visual diagnostic display rather than the engine check light. But then of course the dealers wouldn`t get their bucks from diagnostic services!
