Hi
After over heating, Drive belt and hose failure.
The engine will not run under load. Starts OK and is water tight.
The engine management light is on permantley.
There does not apear to be a head gasket issue.
Help and advise please.

The overheat will almost certainly have caused a head gasket problem.
As far as the management light (MIL) is concerned, try disconnecting the neg on the battery for at least 30mins+. Sometimes this works and is a quick tip to avoid having to have a garage use an Autologic type unit to extinquish the lamp. Make sure your have your radio code to hand before you disconnect. Also you will have to reset the clock. It may help the car a bit, but I doubt it! It sounds as if you have several problems to address.
Your best tip is to take the car to an indipendent jaguar garage and have the car interogated by an Autologic system or similar. Tt is the only practical starting point. Otherwise pure guess work comes into play and this could prove an expensive way around finding out what is at fault.
If an engine strip and rebuild is required, it is probably more cost effective to find a second hand engine to fit. Nowadays, with VAT, labour, parts and machining costs being so high, a secondhand engine often makes sense. Try Eurojag. Prices are very competitive and they will bend overbackwards to ensure you get a good unit.
