Difficulty in filling the petrol tank

Hi All, my wife's stype has an issue when filling with fuel. The petrol pump cuts out continuously. Internet search says it could be the evaporation vent solenoid? Also says this issue will throw up an engine check light which she does have on. Can anyone back this up? Also where is this evaporation vent solenoid?
