Fuel leak

Evening all. My mate is looking at buying a 2.7TD S Type. Its listed as having a fuel leak from the fuel hose thats runs up the passeger side.

Is this a common fault? Has anyone else had a similar leak?

The seller says the leak is very small, & i'm wondering if like the Xtype, did Jaguar fit steel fuel pipes to the S, which can get pitted at the point where the pipe is secured with clips.

Any help wouls be greatly appreciated.

When you say it runs up the passenger side do you mean under the car or in the engine compartment. If I'm not mistaken there is two pipes one being the return to the tank. I wouldn't have thought it would be a hard job to repair it.

I have a 2.7d S-Type currently on SORN and uninsured due to a coolant leak and according to my local garage needs the engine removed to fix a £100 piece of thin walled MS conduit which is way overpriced anyway and worth probably a Fiver on any other car.. The Labour cost will be way in excess of the value of the car. The Fuel lines also have a great relationship with corrosion although mine has never suffered this affliction to date ,it's an 05 model with 150k on the clock. Jaguar have this wonderful system of clipping pipes to the chassis without adequate insulation, in many cases alloy against steel, so if good old rust doesn't get them dissimilar metal corrosion does . So in answer to:-is it a common problem, yes. Watch the cost of replacement pipe!!!!
