Front door lock

Hi, can the front door lock be removed without removing th glass?

I believe so Bob. I can`t recall removing the glass or runners when I had to give one of my locks some attention.

Get those location screws nice and tight. A blob of medium strength Locktight is also a good idea.

I know the locks are a problem, what attention did you give your lock?
I,ve seen them for sale at daft prices, with holes drilled in them being passed as "Refurbished"! Is it just lubrication they require?

These lock unit solenoids are prone to burn out. Plugs need to be kept free of corrosion and the central control module can play up as well. Best to buy secondhand from people like Eurojag, who generally charge around one third of the new cost. Parts also come with a short warrenty which is useful.

Locks are a known problem on our cars.

Use thin machine oil for catch lubrication. WD is less effective in the long run as the chemical constituants evaporate after a while and mechanisms then stiffen up again.
